On January 20th, 2016, seventeen members gathered in the new waiting room at the Medical Centre for the Corporation’s Annual General Meeting. Treasurer, Andy Graham presented the Financial Statements as reviewed by our accountant for the 2014 calendar year, supplemented with a general review of the finances relating to the construction over the course of 2015. He emphasized the significant support we have attained from the community as a whole, raising over $500,000 toward the expanded facility. He reminded us that the bill is over $800,000 with significant external work to the property still outstanding and encouraged us to stay the course with fundraising and encouraging ongoing donor support. On display for the first time was the new donor wall recognizing individuals and businesses that have given in excess of $1,000 to the campaign through one time or cumulative giving since the campaign launch in 2012.
Resolutions were put forward regards the section of the by-laws dealing with membership and the by-laws are now amended to indicate membership is open to individuals 19 years of age or older who declare in writing their interest in furthering the objects of the Corporation. Membership runs from the current AGM until the next held AGM, at which time the application and declaration for membership must be renewed.
The President gave a summary of activities over the past several months which have included the ground breaking and ribbon cutting to open the new wing. She highlighted the benefits of having the Pharmasave on site not only providing a wonderful service to patients of the clinic and the general public but also as a valued and appropriate tenant for the Centre. She thanked the practitioners and staff for continuing to provide excellent healthcare and uninterrupted service during the ongoing construction and noted that they continue to be under construction in the south wing of the building.
