Recognizing Our Donors

Throughout our fundraising efforts for the expansion, we received many donations, large and small. To all who contributed, we say "thank you". Through events and individual generosity, we raised a significant amount of the funding needed to finance the new wing during the planning and construction phases.

This virtual wall of recognition reflects many of those extraordinary donations by groups and individuals who have given us permission to publicly acknowledge their support. We are also pleased to have a physical wall of recognition in the waiting room at the Centre that displays this information.

While the expansion campaign has technically ended, we continue to meet our obligation to discharge the loan from the Township that allowed us to proceed with the build in a timely and efficient manner. As long as there is an outstanding debt balance, we will continue to make updates and additions to our donor walls reflective of ongoing donor support.

The SLDMC is a registered charity and a turn-key medical practice facility. Our practitioners are responsible for the overhead costs of operating the clinical practice i.e. salaries, clinic supplies and services. Rental income from the practitioners and pharmacy are budgeted against property maintenance and services and facility operating and maintenance.

Donations help to finance clinic medical and I.T. equipment purchases as well as supplement our lease income for facility maintenance and capital improvements. The funds are allocated under the Board’s stewardship. Donations assisted with these upgrades and improvements in 2023.

Remembering Andrew Graham

Andrew Graham has served on the St. Lawrence District Medical Centre Board of Directors since December of 2010.

He offered his time and talents in an overall director capacity but also as Treasurer, re-elected to this portfolio at each subsequent AGM.  He moved the Centre forward in many areas of financial management during his years of dedicated service to this community gem.  He was involved in the branding of the Centre as fundraising was initiated for the Centre’s expansion.  He developed and managed this web site.  He was a constant through the visionary, planning, promoting and implementation of the building expansion.

He has been heavily involved in the operations of the Centre and he has been hands on when needed for manual mundane labour.

Respected by his peers around the Board table and by the practitioners and staff of the Centre, he has been a source of knowledge, inspiration and calm reasoning.  He believed the Medical Centre holds a place of great value in our community and his desire was always to see it be the best primary health care facility possible.  With quiet dignity, amidst the obstacles of Covid, Andy navigated the course of a challenging cancer journey.  Andy died at his heritage home, Locust Grove Farm, on Monday, April 18th, 2022.  His presence is, and will be, greatly missed.
